In 1998 then Philadelphia 76'er coach Larry Brown took a chance on a 6'5 185 combo guard with a streaky shooting touch out of the University of St. Louis. Here Hughes can be seen with NBA Commissioner David Stern as he is selected on that fateful day. Being selected was not only a triumph for Hughes but for his family who has served as a motivational factor for his professional aspiration.
